United Shipbuilding Corporation (USC) has signed contract for construction of an ocean-going warship for Russian Navy, said Roman Trotsenko, the USC president.

"Project 11356, displacement 5,600 tons, nine missiles, ocean-zone ship, contract has been signed and being executed", he said.

According to defense ministry, State Defense Order 2011 has been 95% contracted. However, the largest and most significant contracts with USC for construction of Project 955 Borei and Project 885 Yasen nuclear-powered submarines have not been signed so far, said recently deputy defense ministry Alexander Sukhorukov adding that the question was tens of billions.

He warned shipbuilders that defense ministry would not tie contracts without disclosure of actual costs. The military hopes exclusion of markups would considerably cheapen some arms systems on 15-20%.

Volume of state defense order in 2011 will make RUR 750 bln which is 1.5 times as much as in the last year. Defense ministry's portion is RUR 581 bln.

USC is Russia's largest shipbuilding and ship-repairing company. Established in 2007, it comprises 42 Russian shipyards and design bureaus. Currently, it consists of three regional clusters – Western Shipbuilding Center (St. Petersburg), Northern Shipbuilding and Ship-Repair Center (Severodvinsk), and Far East Shipbuilding and Ship-Repair Center (Vladivostok). USC is 100% belongs to the state.
