Bad Weather Frustrated Sea Trials Of First Serial Borei Submarine 20.10.2011

Previously announced in media, first sortie of the first serial Project 955 Borei SSBN Alexander Nevsky was postponed due to bad weather, told a source in defense industry to Central Navy Portal.

Lead sub of the project SSBN Yury Dolgoruky will not conduct another test launch of Borei's main weapon – SLBM Bulava. Foreign sources earlier reported without references to official statements about Bulava launches from SSBN Yury Dolgoruky "scheduled" on Oct 20-22.

Both subs are moored at Sevmash shipyard's basin. As soon as the weather is fine, SSBN Alexander Nevsky will head for the White Sea to start first phase of sea trials.

Recall that SSBN Alexander Nevsky left Sevmash's covered slipways and was launched early in Nov 2010; she being completed afloat for almost a year now.

Lead sub of Borei project, SSBN Yury Dolgoruky is supposed to be handed over to Russian Navy in 2011 and is currently completing test program of Bulava missile system. Results of those tests will influence on commissioning of both Bulava system itself and platform submarines.
