Russia, Finland Signed Shipbuilding Cooperation Memorandum 13.12.2011

Russian Minister of Trade and Industry Viktor Khristenko and Finnish Minister of Economic Affairs Jyri Jukka Häkämies signed a memorandum of cooperation in the area of shipbuilding industry and marine engineering.

According to press service of Ministry of Trade and Industry, main purpose of the memorandum is realization of joint projects in shipbuilding industry and marine engineering for Arctic regions between Russian and Finnish research institutes, technological centers, and commercial companies.

Mr. Khristenko emphasized at the subscription ceremony that "shipbuilding is a traditional element of Russian-Finnish partnership which is currently at the stage of renovation".

He reminded about Russia's National Shipbuilding Development Strategy; one of its items is "contacts with strategic partners able to create new innovative image of Russian shipbuilding and jointly manufacture worldwide-competitive products".
