Seagoing minesweeper Mashinist based in Northern Fleet (NF) Kola Flotilla has celebrated 31-st anniversary since hoisting of naval ensign.

The 31-year old history of the minesweeper has an array of glorious chapters. The ship's crew used to spend months in Atlantic cruises, many times took part in large-scale Northern Fleet's exercises, and continues to perform combat training tasks. The minesweeper's eventful record has even a movie epic. The ship participated in the film Next to God about legendary submarine commander Marinesko.

Thanks to ceaseless work of the crew maintaining the ship's high combat worthiness, the minesweeper is still serviceable and ready to accomplish any assigned tasks.

At the crew parade held on Dec 18, Capt Lt Dmitry Myasnikov, Snr Lt Evgeny Semenov, Petty Officer 2 class Ilya Pilipchuk, Snr Seaman Ruslan Talpashev and other crewmembers were awarded merit certificates and commendations for excellent results in combat training and high naval skills.

Mashinist has left 120,000 miles astern. In future, her crew will face other cruises, combat training, exercises and patrols in order to protect Russia's northern frontiers.
