In order to optimize control and improve effectiveness of auxiliary force, a new military unit was established at Black Sea Fleet (BSF) – 205-th Supply Ship Division.

The division comprises a coastal base with quayside and about 60 various auxiliary vessels making four task groups. They are tugs, floating workshops, lifting/mooring and hospital ships, degaussing vessels, and harbor general-service launches.

The newly-established division will be fully manned by civilian personnel. It was founded on the basis of BSF Supply Ship Brigade, is one of the fleet's biggest formations and holds leading positions as of mileage in 2011. Ships of the division conduct long-range cruise in the Mediterranean Sea all year round.
