Baltic Fleet Infantry Brigade Obtained St. George Colors 26.12.2011

Baltic Fleet (BF) 79-th Insterburg Guard Infantry Brigade obtained the St. George Colors, reports defense ministry's official website.

The solemn flag-handing ceremony took place in Gusev, Kaliningrad region at BF Coast Guard's Insterburg Infantry Brigade. The brigade received the St. George Colors and the Presidential Certificate.

At the meeting, BF Deputy Commander Vice Admiral Viktor Kravchuk read off defense minister's decree and Presidential Certificate awarding the St. George Colors, and congratulated the brigade's personnel on that remarkable event.

The brigade commander Col. Vladimir Chibisov, veterans of the Guard unit, and representatives of local administration addressed the festive meeting.

The ceremony finished with parade under Russia's national flag and the St. George Colors.

According to decree of the Russian president, other 5 Baltic Fleet's units will be also awarded St. George Colors in 2011.
