Russian Navy to Receive Frigate Admiral Grigorovich in 2014
09.01.2012
Project 11356 lead frigate Admiral Grigorovich will join Russian Navy in 2014; presently, the ship is being built by Yantar shipyard in Kaliningrad, reported a spokesman for Russian Navy.
"Totally, it is planned to build three Project 11356 frigates. On Dec 18, 2011 the shipyard laid a keel for the second frigate – Admiral Essen", reports ITAR-TASS citing the source.
Project 11356 frigates are designed for antiship and antisubmarine warfare in the high seas, and antiaircraft actions both independently and as an escort ship. Frigates are armed with strike antiship and surface-to-air missiles, gun mounts, torpedoes, and bombs, said the Navy's spokesman.
He pointed out that over 130 Russian companies co-operate in construction of Project 11356 frigates.
