Indian military delegation and Russia's Eastern Military District command began consultations on joint Russian-Indian joint exercise INDRA 2012, spokesman for the district LtCol Alexander Gordeyev told reporters on Feb 6.

"The Indian delegation arrived in Ulan-Ude on Monday [Feb 6] to attend consultations with Russian counterparts on the bilateral exercise INDRA 2012 to be held in the coming summer", he said.

According to the official, the parties will conduct reconnaissance of the exercise site during a joint trip to the test range.

Russian and Indian armed forces have carried out five INDRA joint land and sea exercises since 2003, the last one was held in India in 2010. The INDRA 2011 exercise supposed to take place in the Sea of Japan in June was canceled on the Russia's initiative. Chief of General Staff Gen. Nikolai Makarov earlier said that INDRA exercises could be conducted on the annual basis.
