Russia, Ukraine Discussed Fairway of Peace 2012 Exercise 07.03.2012

Planning conference of Russian-Ukrainian naval exercise Fairway of Peace 2012 was closed in Sevastopol. The exercise will be oriented at a joint humanitarian operation.

Working groups were headed by Ukrainian Navy Deputy Commander for combat training Capt 1 rank Denis Berezovsky and the Chief of Black Sea Fleet Combat Training Dept Capt 1 rank Igor Tekunov.

In accordance with the rotating command principle, in 2012 the Fairway of Peace exercise will be led by a representative of Ukrainian Navy.

Russia's Black Sea Fleet and Ukrainian Navy plan to dispatch up to 14 ships and boats, 6 airplanes and helicopters, 14 armored and automotive vehicles, and form a joint medical detachment.

The Fairway of Peace 2012 joint Russian-Ukrainian naval exercise will be held in the second half of May 2012.
