Russian Navy Commander Finished Visit to Netherlands 12.03.2012

Visit of Russian Navy Commander-in-Chief ADM Vladimir Vysotsky to Netherlands finished on March 10.

Vysotsky arrived in Netherlands on March 7. Russian Navy CinC met with Dutch defense minister Hans Hillen, Royal Netherlands Navy Commander Vice Admiral Matthieu Borsboom, and Russian Ambassador to Netherlands Roman Kolodkin.

The parties discussed a number of naval cooperation issues and exchanged anti-piracy experience acquired in the Gulf of Aden and off the Horn of Africa.

Military officials discussed bilateral activities between the two navies within the framework of the Cross Year 2013 (the year of Russia in Netherlands and the year of Netherlands in Russia).

The two navy commanders agreed to conduct a number of staff negotiations with a view to plan joint naval activities under the Cross Year 2013 program.

It was decided that they will include visits of warships and military delegations.

Naval commanders talked over possibilities of holding episodes of joint submarine rescue exercise Dynamic Monarch 2014. Scenario and approaches of the exercise will be discussed at further planning conferences.

ADM Vladimir Vysotsky visited a Walrus-class diesel submarine, a Seven Provinces-class frigate, a Holland-class patrol ship, and watched demonstration of Dutch marines, landing from helicopter Lynx, and demonstration flight of ASW helicopter NH-90.

Russian Navy Commander was shown production capacities of Damen Schelde Naval Shipbuilding, Thales Netherlands, Imtech, and visited a Sigma-class frigate.
