Moscow Arbitration Court sustained a claim of JSC Zvezda Shipyard on collection of RUR 65.8 mln from federal state enterprise Pacific Fleet Administration and Russian Defense Ministry for repair of the third-generation SSBN Omsk, reports RAPSI.

According to the court, defense ministry in June 2007 concluded a state contract with Zvezda Shipyard for repair of nuclear-powered submarine Omsk. Russia appropriated about RUR 500 mln for works on service-life prolongation of SSBN Omsk, but the need for additional works not stipulated in the contract was revealed. The complainant had fully repaired the submarine and spent extra RUR 65 mln, but the direct customer has not compensate additional expenditure. Therefore, the shipyard moved the court.

Earlier on, Moscow Arbitration Court sustained the complaints, but the cassational instance expedited the case for reconsideration.

The yard delivered SSBN Omsk to Pacific Fleet in Aug 2008. Solemn re-commission ceremony took place in Bolshoi Kamen, Primorsky Krai.

JSC Zvezda Shipyard is one of Russia's leading shipbuilding companies. It repairs Pacific Fleet submarines and is the only shipyard in the Far East specialized in refitting and modernization of nuclear-powered ballistic missile submarines, says the yard's official website. In the fall of 2009, Russia and South Korea decided to construct an up-to-date yard on the base of Zvezda in order to build fishery ships.

Pacific Fleet (PF) operates nuclear-powered ballistic missile submarines, nuclear-powered attack submarines, diesel electric submarines, surface seagoing and littoral warships, missile-carrying/ASW/fighter aviation, coast defense troops, and army units.
