JSC Severnaya Verf shipyard continues executing orders for Russian Navy, a source in the yard told Central Navy Portal.
Main defense orders of Severnaya Verf are Project 22350 frigate Admiral Gorshkov (serial number 921), Project 20380 corvettes Boiky (serial number 1003), Stoiky (serial number 1004), and Project 18280 special-purpose ship Yury Ivanov (serial number 787).
The top priority order is Project 22350 lead frigate Admiral Gorshkov. She is expected to start mooring trials in May, and shipwrights aimed all efforts at the ship's pre-trial preparation.
Being moored at the outfitting quay, corvette Boiky has recently accommodated the crew. Currently, the shipyard is eliminating defects revealed by the crew. Prior to the crew settlement, shipwrights had almost completely finished cabins and living quarters, installed and tested cookhouse equipment. The ship was supplied with fresh water. Defects found by crewmembers are minor; for one, the cook asked to change the galley-dresser's location. The corvette has taken necessary displacement position, which allowed starting important works on final alignment of shaft lines and engine mounting.
Scheduled assembling of outboard fittings and propeller-rudder system is in progress on corvette Stoiky presently staying in covered slipway. Shaft line bearings are being prepared for installation. Steering engine and rudder blade have been already loaded on the ship; its installation caused difficulties, since the stock supplied for Stoiky was not coupled with tiller, and the shipwrights had to fit them together. Having wide experience in construction of three corvettes, workers have successfully coped with that unusual task. Presently, they are aligning reduction gearings, and must complete assembling of shaft lines, screw shafts, screws, reduction gearings, main propulsion units, and present them to quality control department and the customer's representatives. When assemblage quality of screw shafts and screws is accepted, the hull will be moved to outdoor slipways.
Calibration of fuel, lube oil, and fresh water tanks is in progress on the order 787 (reconnaissance ship Yury Ivanov); those works must be completed before the ship's launching. Such works are held on all lead and one-of-a-kind orders, and now is the recon ship's turn. Shipwrights offered to use not rating tank but new imported ultrasonic flowmeters available to the shipyard. This initiative is being currently discussed; the ship's designers from Iceberg Central Design Bureau would probably consent to the calibration in the modern way. Mounting of the adjustable-pitch propeller is starting as well.
As was earlier reported by Central Navy Portal, corvette Boiky will start sea trials in July and be delivered to Baltic Fleet in Nov 2012. Stoiky is expected to leave covered slipway in mid-May, and the solemn launching ceremony will be held on May 21. Reconnaissance ship Yury Ivanov is to be put afloat in Aug 2012. Reportedly, she will be handed over to the Navy late in 2013.
