Indian frigate INS Teg built by Yantar Shipyard (Kaliningrad) will leave Russia on May 6 heading for homebase in Mumbai, the yard's press service told Central Navy Portal.

Already commissioned into Indian Navy, Project 11356 frigate INS Teg F45 (lead ship of the second trio) left the shipyard's quay on May 2 and moved for Baltiysk.

In the Baltic Fleet (BF) main base, the frigate will be prepared for a long-range cruise to Mumbai naval base. Other Project 11356 frigates (F40 Talwar, F41 Trishul, and F42 Tabar) are also based there along with 15-th Frigate Group of Western Naval Command.

As is planned, after loading fuel and all kinds of supplies INS Teg will leave Baltiysk on May 6 and set a course for India. From experience of previous ships, the cruise would take 1.5-2 months.

The next frigate built by Yantar – INS Tarkash – is currently under mooring trials. In May or June, the ship will begin sea trials. Handing over to Indian Navy is scheduled in Sept or Oct 2012. The third frigate – INS Trikand – is expected to join Indian Navy in the next spring. Those three new ships will form a new frigate group. Their commissioning will considerably strengthen combat capability of Indian Navy.
