Third serial Project 20380 corvette Stoiky will be launched on May 30, a source in Severnaya Verf shipyard told Central Navy Portal.
Corvette Stoiky (serial number 1004) was withdrawn from covered slipway of Severnaya Verf shipyard on May 11 and placed in launching dock. The ship is going to be launched on May 30. The yard's press service earlier reported the ship would be launched on May 21, but then the date was postponed due to organizational and technical reasons. The solemn ceremony will be attended by high-ranking governmental officials, representatives of Ministry of Trade and Industry, St. Petersburg city administration, directors of United Shipbuilding Corporation, and the Navy command.
Project 20380 corvette is a multipurpose littoral zone warship with performance characteristics outclassing foreign analogs. Basic features of Stereguschiy-class corvettes are versatility, advanced automation of onboard systems, higher speed, and improved air/missile defense capabilities. By virtue of special architectural and design solutions, the ship's secondary radar and infrared signatures are considerably reduced, as well as underwater noisiness.
By governmental decision, JSC Severnaya Verf is the only authorized manufacturer of Project 20380/20385 corvettes and Project 22350 frigates for Russian Navy.
In accordance with concluded contracts, Severnaya Verf is to build and deliver six Project 22350 frigates and six Project 20380/20385 corvettes to Russian Navy by 2020.
