Pacific Fleet (PF) officer – Guards Capt Lt Sergei Novikov – helped police to neutralize a dangerous murderer. Website of Pacific Television posted a report on the incident which aroused dozens of comments; locals of Fokino, Primorsky Krai thank Sergei for his deed.

Fire party officer of Guards missile cruiser Varyag Capt Lt Sergei Novikov would probably remember the day of Apr 29, 2012 for a long time. After noon that day, Sergei and his pregnant wife Natalia came in the SberBank office in Fokino. Having taken forms to obtain credit, the couple sat down to fill them. Everything seemed calm in the town of naval mariners…

Suddenly, Sergei heard a strange knock and then screaming female cry. The officer looked back and noticed a man beyond the reception grasping a young female account manager and stabbing a kitchen knife into her heart…

There were no men in the office except Sergei and the murderer, only women and kids. Having pushed Natalia out of the hall, the officer began to 'evacuate' other visitors as he thought that was a robbery and the criminal might need to take hostages. When Sergei closed the door, he spotted one woman from the lending division and let her out. Then he locked the door and shouted to people passing by the bank office to call for police.

The murderer tried to open the door but failed, Sergei and another officer held the door handle. People shouted that the killer was trying to escape through the window; the officers rushed to catch him there. The criminal was standing on the window sill and tried to stab the knife into Sergei but couldn't due to narrow frame and let the knife drop.

"From the ground, I could reach only his belly, but together with a senior lieutenant we managed to push that… back into the office", Sergei said. It was hard to him to find proper words to name the murderer. Drunken Yevgeny Kukharkin killed a beautiful 27-year old SberBank account manager Yulia Skachkova and made her 6-year old daughter orphan. Thanks to decisive actions of Sergei Novikov, the criminal failed to escape. Soon arrived policemen and arrested the murderer.

According to information agency Primorye 24, killed Yulia Skachkova was a common-law wife of Yevgeny Kukharkin. Locals of Fokino said that union had been broken up long ago, but Kukharkin did not accept that. Yulia's neighbors suppose that recent fire happened in her flat was also the work of her killer.

Except the daughter, Yulia Skachkova had a mother – an English school teacher in Fokino.
