Russian-Built Frigate INS Teg Arrived at Mumbai  22.06.2012

Frigate INS Teg built by Russian shipyard Yantar for Indian Navy has arrived at Mumbai port, reports RIA Novosti referring to Alexei Mzareulov, officer of Russian Consulate General in Mumbai.

According to RIA Novosti, the solemn meeting ceremony was attended by representatives of Indian Navy command, Russian Consul General in Mumbai Alexei Novikov, delegations of Rosoboronexport and Yantar headed by the shipyard's director Alexander Konovalov.

Handover ceremony of INS Teg to Indian Navy took place at Yantar shipyard on Apr 27. That is the first vessel in the second 3-ship batch of Project 11356 frigates.

Frigate INS Teg for Indian Navy was built under the project developed by Severnoye Design Bureau.

According to the Russian-Indian contract, Yantar shipyard builds three frigates of this kind for India.

Project 11356 frigate is designed for antisurface/antisubmarine/antiaircraft warfare at high seas both independently and as an escort ships.

First trio of Project 11356 frigates was built by Baltiysky Zavod shipyard and commissioned into Indian Navy.
