New Sobol-Class Patrol Craft Joined Far East Coast Guard 27.08.2012

An ensign-hoisting ceremony was held on Aug 26 in Vladivostok on the new Project 12200 Sobol-class patrol boat built for Russian Coast Guard.

According to press service of Primorsky Krai FSB Frontier Service, at first the Sobol-class boat will patrol area around the Russky Island, where the APEC Summit will take place, and then take over watch at Russian sea borders.

The boat's project was developed by JSC Almaz Design Bureau for interception of fast-speed vessels, maintaining security at enclosed seas and long-range littoral areas, control over economic zone, protection of wildlife resources, defense of littoral sea lanes, vessels, and infrastructure.

Hull and deck erection are made of high-tensile aluminum alloy. The boat's length is 27.96 meters, beam is 5.82 meters, full displacement is 58.5 tons, max speed is 47-48 knots, endurance with passengers on board is 3 days, crew is 10 men.
