New Grachonok-Class Antiterror Craft Hoists Russian Naval Ensign
04.09.2012
The special-purpose boat was developed by the Vympel Design Bureau (Nizhny Novgorod), and batch-produced by Zelenodolsk Shipyard. Having relatively shallow displacement, boats of this class are designed for effective countermeasures against sabotage and terrorist forces in basing sites and littoral zones, as well as for assistance to Russian Coast Guard in border defense activities.
"Up-to-date equipment and perfect navigability will help the new boat in effective prevention of terrorist actions and sabotage threats within responsibility area of our naval base in the Black Sea", said Novorossiysk Naval Base Commander Capt 1 Rank Sergei Pinchuk at the commission ceremony.
Through trials period, servicemen have mastered the boat well; that will help the crew to set upon combat tasks in the nearest time.
