Oiler Ivan Bubnov Returns to Homeport Sevastopol

10.09.2012 Black Sea Fleet (BSF) large-size replenishment oiler Ivan Bubnov on Sept 7 returned to homebase Sevastopol from the 5-month long deployment.

Throughout the cruise, the oiler was performing assigned tasks in the Mediterranean and the Red seas.

Ivan Bubnov replenished supplies of Northern Fleet (NF) destroyer Vice Admiral Kulakov being on the anti-piracy mission near the Horn of Africa. After that, the destroyer started escorting the fifth commercial convoy in the Red Sea.

Being stationed in the Mediterranean Sea, the oiler refueled other NF ships as well.

Having covered several thousands of nautical miles, Ivan Bubnov returned to the homeport and was met with traditional bread-and-salt.

Recall that the oiler left Sevastopol on Apr 15 to supply Russian Navy's anti-piracy task unit.

Project 1599V large-size seagoing oiler Ivan Bubnov was built by Baltiysky Zavod shipyard in Leningrad and launched on Apr 20, 1974. The ship joined Soviet Navy on July 19, 1975.
