Pilots of Northern Fleet (NF) Fighter Aircraft Regiment kicked off naval training program. They take off a coast-based airfield and land on the deck of NF aircraft-carrying cruiser Admiral Flota Sovetskogo Soyuza Kuznetsov.

Northern Fleet Shipborne Pilots Resumed Deck Landing Drills

On the first day, pilots performed 9 arrested landings on the deck, 10 low-altitude flights over the deck, and 9 takeoffs from the deck.
Training flights were conducted by Su-25 and Su-33 fighters in the NF test range in the Barents Sea.
For naval pilots, aircraft carrier practice is a closing stage of flight training. As of now, they have finished the full training course at land airfield. In accordance with training program, pilots mastered aerobics, practiced interception of an aerial target, and held mock air combats.
According to the regiment commander Col. Evgeny Kuznetsov, sea phase of pilots' training started in September and will last till the end of October.
