Eleventh session of the Russia-India Inter-Governmental Commission on Military Technical Cooperation was held on Oct 4 under the chairmanship of Russian defense minister Anatoly Serdiukov and his Indian counterpart Arackaparambil Kurien Antony.
As a result of the meeting, the parties signed a protocol providing further development of bilateral relations in military technical areas.
In accordance with earlier reached agreements, the sides developed a number of proposals making basis to improve military cooperation.
Russia positively evaluates progress in joint development of a multirole fighter and a multipurpose transport aircraft, license production of fighters Su-30MKI and tanks T-90S, BrahMos project.
Participants pointed out that the two countries have large potential for cooperation in naval arms, air defense systems, refurbishing of Indian helicopters, infantry combat vehicles and tanks, aftersale service of Russian-made weapons.
During the session, the parties demonstrated consistent course for activization of partnership in military areas and willingness to have constructive dialogue in wide range of problems.
