Caspian Flotilla Ships to Visit Azerbaijan 08.10.2012

Caspian Flotilla (CF) task unit consisting of flagship frigate Tatarstan and seagoing tug MB-58 will arrive in Azerbaijan this week, reports Russian embassy in Baku.

Purpose of the visit is development and strengthening of friendly relations between Russian and Azerbaijan's naval mariners in the Caspian Sea. The unit is expected to call at Baku port on Oct 9. The visit program includes meetings, sharing of experience, sightseeing tours around Baku, and joint sport events, reports News-Georgia.

Frigate Tatarstan will be open for civilians on Oct 10. The ship is designed for countering submarine, surface, and air enemy in littoral sea zone (escort missions, patrols, protection of state border and maritime economic zone).
