Black Sea Fleet (BSF) landing ship Novocherkassk has finished the visit to Greek port of Thessaloniki. Russian Consul General in Thessaloniki Alexei Popov met the ship in the port.

During the stay in the port, the cruise commander Capt 1 Rank Andrei Paliy and the ship's commanding officer Capt 2 Rank Vladimir Bolsun paid official visits to representatives of local authorities and security agencies.
Crew of Novocherkassk attended the Ohi Day festivities. Russian mariners took part in the liturgy done in the Saint Demetrius Cathedral and laid wreath at the monument to Greek freedom fighters. BSF naval band and marine unit paraded at the Ohi Day festival.
The day before, at the military cemetery Zeidelik, BSF servicemen paid honors to Russian officers and soldiers killed in the Russo-Turkish War.
When being moored at Thessaloniki port, the Russian warship was open for public visiting.
Having completed the visit to Thessaloniki, BSF landing ship Novocherkassk departed for the Mediterranean Sea to continue deployment.
