Delegation of Norwegian coast rangers arrived at Russian Navy's Northern Fleet (NF) under the framework of bilateral military cooperation program.

This morning, representatives of NF command met seven Norwegian servicemen at the Borisoglebsky border checkpoint. Currently, Norwegian guests are visiting NF Marine Regiment; they familiarized with training process and took part in wreath-laying ceremony at the monument to marines died in North Caucasus combat operations.

During their visit, coast rangers will visit NF main naval base Severomorsk and get aboard one of landing ships designed for delivery of landing assault troops to unequipped coast.

It is a reciprocal visit of Norwegian delegation. In 2010, group of NF marine officers visited Norwegian army base located in Harstad. Russian officers watched samples of small arms, combat vehicles, and warfare tactics of coast ranger unit.

Norwegian coast ranger unit was established in 1962 as a parachute-training center of Norwegian armed forces. Nowadays, Norwegian coast rangers represent well-trained units of special-task force.
