Pacific Fleet (PF) destroyer Marshall Shaposhnikov moored at Iranian port Bandar Abbas, reported Iran News referring to PressTV report published on Dec 19, 2012.

Iranian Navy's VADM Hossein Azad said on Dec 19 that Russian warship Marshall Shaposhnikov had moored at Bandar Abbas with the view to strengthen Russo-Iranian military relations.

Recall that Russian Navy's Caspian Flotilla (CF) Commander Sergei Alyokminsky declared in Nov 2012 that CF ships were to pay formal visit to Iran in 2013 after a six-year break.

For the first time, Soviet naval ships visited Iran in 1972 and the last time – in 2007.
