An assembly of the maritime meeting in which the Russian Pacific Fleet took center stage took place in St. Petersburg recently. Such meetings take place regularly in Russia’s northern capital, and in 2007 and 2008 they were organized in honor of the Black Sea, Baltic, and Northern fleets.

Some 300 participants gathered in the main hall of the Ekaterininsky Palace of the Tsarskoe Selo museum-reserve. A delegation of the Pacific Fleet headed by the deputy commander of the Pacific Fleet in charge of discipline, Rear Admiral Sergei Belenov, naturally attended.

The Song and Dance Ensemble of the Pacific Fleet gave a concert immediately following the opening ceremony. The artists performed some of the best songs and dances often heard on long missions in faraway, foreign seas.
