Russian warships continue to carry out missions in strategically important ocean and sea regions, Captain First Class Igor Dygalo, an aide to the commander of the Russian Navy, told Ria Novosti.

“The heavy nuclear missile cruiser Pyotr Veliky (Peter The Great), according the plan of its mission at distant seas, after taking part in exercises with the Indian Navy has crossed the Suez Canal and is now in the Mediterranean Sea,” said Dygalo.

According to him, the antisubmarine ship of the Northern Fleet Admiral Levchenko (DDG Udaloy-9) has wrapped up a business visit to the Syrian port of Tartus, and the heavy aircraft carrier Admiral Kuznetsov (CV Kuznetsov-1) of the Northern Fleet and the antisubmarine ship Admiral Chabanenko (DDG Udaloy II-1) are in the Northern Atlantic on a mission.

In addition, the heavy antisubmarine ship Admiral Vinogradov (DDG Udaloy-10) of the Pacific Fleet continues to provide escort in the region of the African Horn, Dygalo added.
