The Information Service of Russian Navy previously reported to Interfax that a smoke had taken place on the Black Sea cruiser Moskva on Sept, 7, but it was rapidly eliminated. Although the ship's weapon is all-purpose, it is not a nuclear carrier.

Multipurpose ship-to-air missile system S-300 is capable to destroy aerial targets on altitude up to 27 km on the distance of 55 km from the ship's basing site. Furthermore, the cruiser has self-defense SAM systems used for defeat of aerial targets on altitude up to 4 km on the distance of 15 km from the ship. Totally the cruiser is armed with 16 long-range cruise missiles.

There are different kinds of artillery systems mounted aboard, including those intended for combating small-size naval and aerial targets on distance of 3 km.
