15.09.2009 Source: RIA Novosti

Pacific Fleet (PF) Commander Vice Admiral Konstantin Sidenko gave an order to create next, fourth unit of ships to participate in the international anti-piracy mission in the Gulf of Aden, said representative of PF Information and Public Relations Service to RIA Novosti on Tuesday.

Presently the third unit of PF ships keeps the watch near the Horn of Africa. It comprises large antisubmarine ship Admiral Tributs, tanker Boris Butoma and rescue tug SB-99. The unit left Vladivostok on June, 29, and month later on July, 30, arrived to the Horn of Africa and started patrolling the Gulf of Aden and escorting cargo ships.

"The command of Pacific Fleet started to organize the fourth unit of ships for further sending to Somali coast. It will consist of large antisubmarine ship, two support vessels and Marine unit", specified the official.

He did not mention the exact departure terms of PF's fourth unit from Vladivostok to Indian Ocean, although remarked that the third unit is to finish its participation in international operation in October.

Antisubmarine ship Admiral Tributs is armed with two shipborne helicopters. Their crews conduct aerial reconnaissance and searching of pirate vessels. The unit has a well-armed PF Marine unit.
