Ukrainian corvette Ternopil has started sea trials

The press-center of Ukrainian Navy Command informs

The UNS Ternopil started sea trials from Sevastopol port on September, 15.

Checking of vessel's maneuver units, organization of on-move watch and drills on shipboard damage control while sea passages, on navigational safety and on conducting of single-ship warfare will be performed during the trials.

It is important to note that Ternopil is carrying out the final stage of preparation to Active Endeavour NATO anti-terrorist operation. Presently the ship is 100% manned, the crew is authorized to maintain materiel and to carrying out of combat drills. The ship is planned to return in Sevastopol port on Sept, 17.

As it was scheduled, the corvette Ternopil would leave Sevastopol port to accomplish tasks of Active Endeavour anti-terrorist operation in Mediterranean Sea on October,15.

Note

The Active Endeavour NATO operation is the first NATO operation upon Article 5 of NATO Charter of collective self-defense. The main objective of the operation is to exclude the possible sea support of international terrorist organizations' activities. To achieve that, the task is to take all civil maritime traffic in the Mediterranean area under real-time military control to prevent illegal transportations on behalf of financing of international terrorist organizations on the most threatening directions.
