Note
The Active Endeavour NATO operation is the first NATO operation upon Article 5 of NATO Charter of collective self-defense. The main objective of the operation is to exclude the possible sea support of international terrorist organizations' activities. To achieve that, the task is to take all civil maritime traffic in the Mediterranean area under real-time military control to prevent illegal transportations on behalf of financing of international terrorist organizations on the most threatening directions.Source: RusNavy.com
