Coast guards, ships and naval aviation of Baltic Fleet improve their combat skills in Kaliningrad region on Saturday, these activities are related with strategic exercise Zapad-2009 conducted on Sept, 8-29, reports press-service and information department of the Ministry of Defense.
"Different tasks of conducting warfare were worked out at one of the ranges in Kaliningrad region in the framework of final stage of scheduled combat training. Combat drills of basic artillery and small arms were conducted", says informational message.
According to Ministry of Defense, combat training activities of Baltic Fleet being performed under Zapad-2009 exercise showed the readiness of personnel and equipment to accomplish missions given.
Zapad-2009 exercise which is the final event of operational training of Union State's Armed Forces in 2009, is taking place on territories of both countries on Sept, 8-29.
The exercise scenario considers development variants of last decades' military conflicts and modern views on prevention and rebuff of aggression.
About 13 000 men, great number of armors, aviation of Russia and Belarus and ships of Russian Navy are participating the event.
"On September, 26 all military units located on the ranges worked out the matters of counter air attack, alternation of operational regions, preparation of defensive lines and positions. During accomplishing missions the great emphasis was put on increase of troops vitality, including camouflage security activities", says the Ministry.
Thus, at Obuz-Lesnovsky Range in Belarus during last day participants practiced one of the most important issues for the regional grouping – cooperation between Russian and Belarusian forces in joint defense.
"Mechanized units conducted mobile defense on intermediate positions. Air Force and Air Defense units covered them from the air", says the authority.
