Russian Ministry of Defense plans to buy 26 deck-based fighters MiG-29K for the Navy by the end 2011, which were successfully tested at Northern Fleet. That was said by high-ranking representative of Military industrial complex on Wednesday.
"It is planned that the Russian defense ministry would purchase 26 fighters MiG-24K for the Navy. Tests conducted showed excellent flight performance of these aircrafts", he said.
The tests are to be continued, he added. But "military experts are strongly sure that these aircrafts are essential for Russian Navy".
First fighters will be delivered to the Navy in mid-2010.
In the framework of testing program MiG-29K and MiG-29KUB aircrafts performed several landings and takeoffs at the deck of Northern Fleet's air-carrying cruiser Admiral Kuznetsov standing in Barents Sea aquatic area. Representatives of Russian MoD and Indian Navy observed the tests.
