NS Nerpa completed sea trials cycle and arrived at Fare East base, but its preparation for state testing is in heavy financial conditions – Amur Shipyard Vostok still has not received funds for repairing sub after accident in 2008, and was cut off electricity for non-payment since Thursday, said Nikolai Povzyk, shipyard's Director General to RIA Novosti.
On Nov 8, 2008, during first sea trials of Nerpa built at the shipyard in Komsomolsk-on-Amur and had not been commissioned at that time, in consequence of unauthorized actuation of LOH firefighting system (submarine-type, volumetric, chemical) freon gas filled compartments. 20 men died, 21 were intoxicated. In total, there were 208 men aboard the submarine. Repeated sea trials of the sub started in summer 2009.
"Builders' sea trials were completed in time. Object returned to base (Vostok shipyard in Far East). Dock works and preparation for state testing are planned then, but there are problems. Vostok shipyard is cut off electricity for debts; we have not received money for the work done", said Povzyk.
