21.10.2009 A festivity devoted to 313th anniversary of Russian Navy was held in Ryazan "Museum of Youth Movement History" on Tuesday.
The activity was arranged by the museum and Ryazan municipal veteran organizations. "The celebration is held in our place because we closely cooperate with veteran organizations of our city, including sailors", explained Elena Gravchina, the head of tourist department of the museum.
There were lots of guests attending the ceremony: veterans of the Navy, labor, Great Patriotic War, museum staff, students of Ryazan schools.
Candles on the black piano, St. Andrew's flag and pictures of sailors created the holiday atmosphere.
Before festivities, chaplain Father Michael prayed for the souls of those died protecting the honor of our country.
Vasily Martishin, veteran of the Navy told the story of cruiser Varyag's heroism.
Member of Ryazan City Council Lidiya Grozeeva congratulated mariners attending the event. "How elegant you are! I wish you live long lives", she said.
The younger generation of future defenders of our country were not forgotten either. Members of children's military patriotic club "Young Sailor" Vladimir Tiubaev, Dmitry Savin and Dmitry Sorokin were awarded by Military Assistance Society diplomas "For success in naval science".
When formal part was finished, Pirogov Brothers Musical College gave a little concert for veterans of the Navy. They played "Melody" by Ennio Morricone, sang songs "Mother Russia", "Cossack Song", "Farewell, Cliffy Coast", "Hey, My Fogs" and "Sevastopol Waltz".
At the same day the museum exposition achieved one more showpiece – model of Bodryi torpedo boat, the warship of Russo-Japanese War. It was made by kids from "Mechta" creative workshop. The model is acting thanks to the battery and two motors.
