Alagez vessel to continue search Tu-142 even in storm

12.11.2009 Source: RIA Novosti

Pacific Fleet's SR vessel Alagez is capable to work in severe environment of storm, said the source in Pacific Fleet HQ to RIA Novosti.

"Navigability of Alagez allows working in complex weather conditions", said staff officer commenting the information that meteorological conditions might complicate search operation of Tu-142 antisubmarine aircraft crashed in Tatarskiy Strait area.

In severe weather environment the vessel may use shipborne sonar for aircraft wreckage examination, noted the interviewee.

"Use of deepwater remotely controlled submersibles when sea disturbance is over force-four is impossible", added the officer.

According to defense ministry, the weather is currently favorable at the search area. However, on Nov 15 the wind will rise up to storm and that "might complicate search of wrecks and blackboxes" , said to RIA Novosti representative of Far East monitor forecast center of EMERCOM.
