SSBN Yury Dolgoruky passed another phase of sea trials

18.11.2009
SSBN Yury Dolgoruky having successfully completed subsequent stage of builder's sea trials returned to Sevmash Shipyard wharf wall, said Yekaterina Pilikina, the shipyard representative.

"The plan of test phase has been generally fulfilled", commented Vladimir Prokofiev, deputy production director at request of the press service.

"Results of builder's sea trials of SSBN Yury Dolgoruky are of great importance for Sevmash and the Navy in whole. We put high hopes upon first sub of Borei-class", said Mrs. Pilikina. According to her, the experts will eliminate defects revealed during trials and prepare the sub for new phase.

Project 955 4-generation submarine cruiser Yury Dolgoruky was launched in February 2008. It is expected to be commissioned into the Russian Navy in 2009. Two more subs of this project are currently under construction on the shipyard's slipways – Alexander Nevsky and Vladimir Monomakh. Those subs will be supposedly armed with SLBM Bulava.
