French helicopter carrier to visit St. Petersburg

23.11.2009
French helicopter carrier Mistral – a subject of Russian Navy's interest – will make a service visit to St. Petersburg today.

Depending on the weather conditions, the combat ship will moor at Lt. Shmidt Quay or berths of Sea Facade which is a new St. Petersburg civil seaport being built at Vasilievsky Island.

During its St. Petersburg visit, the French helicopter carrier will be inspected and assessed by experts of Russian Navy and shipbuilding industry.

Meanwhile, there was concern in Estonia related to France's intentions to sell Mistral to Russia.

Estonian analysts suppose that Baltic Sea will be a new accommodation of the heli-carrier and that fact would endanger Estonia.
