Admiral Vladimir Vysotsky, Russian Navy Commander-in-Chief considers space and air supremacy as the key advantage of present and future wars.

"One can't win without air and space domination. Those who understand that are on the right track", said CIC after conference on 100th anniversary of famous naval leader Sergei Gorshkov held Friday in Moscow.

Space and air groupings are primary danger even for submarines, he underlined. Besides, submarine communications are also based on satellite systems.

Russia needs to create aircraft carrying systems which are basically similar to space ones, pointed out Vysotsky. "Today we should appreciate such systems and this should be a nationwide collaboration", said CIC.

He informed that nine countries presently possess aircraft carrying fleets. By 2014 fourteen more states are expected to join this cohort. "China's intentions are plain, but Russia should take note of such countries as Thailand also having this sort of plans", said Vysotsky.

Huge investments in shipbuilding are justified even in crisis since 90% of world's shipping is carried out by marine transport which has to be protected.
