Arkhangelsk regional procuracy found crude violations of preventive firefighting regulations at defense shipyard Zvezdochka during accident investigation of recently ignited nuclear-powered submarine, informs RIA Novosti referring to the procuracy press-service.

On Feb 19 an ignition occurred in third section of nuclear-powered submarine K-480 Ak Bars during gas cutting. The sub had been laid up for utilization. It took firefighters over 15 hours to extinguish the fire.

"It was established that shipwrights had not isolated cable routing and interior rubber coating with noncombustible materials. In addition, the shipyard had not enough firefighting facilities", said the interviewee.

He added that procuracy conducts investigation jointly with state fire prevention supervisory authorities.

The amount of damage is currently being appraised. Officials in charge of the sub's utilization will be brought to responsibility.
