Patrol ship Gepard built for Vietnam to be launched in Tatarstan 16.03.2010
Second patrol ship Gepard built for Vietnam will be launched today in Tatarstan. The warship constructed by Zelenodolsk shipyard will be triumphantly launched from slipway to Volga River.

"The ship's length is 102 meters; displacement is 2,100 tons. Gepard is equipped with 40,000-shp CODAG powerplant; the ship's max speed is 25 knots", said Sergei Ilyin, the shipyard's Director General. The ship is designed for protection and patrolling of national sea borders.

That is the second ship made in recent two years by Zelenodolsk shipyard for Vietnamese Navy. The first one was launched in Dec 2009. In May, while first open water, the ships will sail to St. Petersburg by own power; next, they will head for Vietnam.

Zelenodolsk shipyard is one of the largest enterprises in shipbuilding branch. It was established in 1895.
