Officers of Army HQ departed for Siberian and Far East Military Commands to conduct reconnaissance of potential site for active phase of operational-strategic exercise Vostok-2010, informed Wednesday RIA Novosti citing representative of Army Information Activities Office.
"During inspection, officers will selectively check readiness of some military units to forthcoming maneuvers. Besides, it is planned to clarify concept of practical use of forces as well as to inspect readiness of ground and naval ranges", said the interviewee.
Reconnaissance group will study deployment areas for troops participating in the exercise, added Army official.
"Officers are going to inspect routes to concentration areas, define sequence of training warfare, type and activities of engineer support and required assets and facilities", said the interviewee.
Vostok-2010 exercise is a crown of training work to be done by officers and noncommissioned personnel of Russian Armed Forces in 2010, previously reported Gen. Col. Alexander Postnikov, Army Commander-in-Chief.
All constant alert units of Far East, Siberian, Volga-Ural Military Commands, and Pacific Fleet will participate in the exercise. Buildup of armed grouping by troops dispatched from other regions will be one of the exercise's elements.
Vostok-2010 will be conducted in late June – early July 2010, said General of the Army Nikolai Makarov, Chief of the General Staff at the end of 2009.
In 2010 Russian Ministry of Defense plans to appropriate over 20 bln rub for field training exercises, field firings, long-range cruises of warships, and strategic aviation patrol flights, added Makarov.
