Admiralteyskie Verfi delivered next Kilo-class sub to foreign orderer

Admiralteyskie Verfi delivered next Kilo-class sub to foreign orderer 01.04.2010
Admiralteyskie Verfi shipyard delivered Project 636 Kilo diesel electric submarine to foreign orderer. Delivery-acceptance certificate was triumphantly signed today, said Vladimir Aleksandrov, the shipyard's director general.

Such diesel electric subs designed by Rubin Central Design Bureau for Marine Engineering are in great demand at international market. Soviet and Russian shipbuilders have made 106 non-nuclear subs for export. Kilo-class subs (Projects 877EKM and 636) represent one of the most successful series of ships. Their competitiveness is based on high silence, target detection range, control automation, operation speed and weapon power. Admiralteyskie Verfi shipyard has organized serial production of such submarines.

Upgraded Project 636 submarine which is presently offered to prospect orderers is armed with missile and torpedo weapons capable to hit sea and land targets. At present, the marketing of Amur-class new generation submarines is being considered; those subs are also designed by Rubin.

"We're preparing for construction of Kilo-class series for an Asian country. All our buyers agree that submarines built by Admiralteyskie Verfi conform to the world standards. Depending on world market demands, we can build one or two submarines per year. And after 2015 we'll be ready to export Amurs, too", pointed out Aleksandrov.

Admiralteyskie Verfi shipyard is a division of United Shipbuilding Corporation; it was established in 1704. Through more than three centuries, the yard has built 2,500 surface warships and submarines, merchant and research vessels.
