Colors making ceremony on new Coast Guard ship in Vladivostok
21.04.2010
Ceremony of hoisting naval flag on Coast Guard ship built by Vostochnaya Verf shipyard will be held Wednesday in Vladivostok, informs RIA Novosti citing an official of FSB Frontier Service, Primorsky Krai branch.
"Solemn ceremony will take place on the new-built ship at the pier of Vostochnaya Verf shipyard at Golden Horn Bay. Shipwrights, frontiersmen, and municipal officials will attend the ritual", said the interviewee.
According to him, the new ship was launched in Aug 2009, underwent all state trials, and was commissioned into Coast Guard of Primorsky Krai Frontier Service. As naval tradition demands, ship's service must begin from hoisting a flag.
"The ship's max speed is over 30 knots; displacement is 375 tons; navigable in 5-grade storm. The ship is armed with two 6-barreled 30-mm automatic gun mounts; the crew is 42", specified the official.
According to the source, the new ship will serve in the Sea of Japan within responsibility zone of FSB Frontier Service, Primorsky Krai branch. Capt 3 rank Denis Kvasha who graduated from Pacific Naval Academy in 2001 has already taken command of the ship.
The new Coast Guard ship is the fifth vessel built by Vostochnaya Verf shipyard for frontiersmen of the Far East. In Jan 2010 their fleet was enlarged by tanker Ishim which is intended for enroute refueling of patrol craft.
