In Crimea the decision to extend presence of Russia's Black Sea Fleet (BSF) in Sevastopol till 2042 was supported by 87.5% respondents. These are results of a poll conducted by foundation "Moscow-Crimea", reports Rosbalt.

Crimean locals applaud new BSF agreement

Only 8% Crimea residents voted against the decision of Russian and Ukrainian presidents. 4.4% pollees gave no answer.
As for citizens of Sevastopol, 95.7% residents supported BSF prolongation. About 2.5% are disaffected; 1.8% respondents gave no answer.
Among those who support agreements of the two presidents, following answers were the most frequent:
"Black Sea Fleet has always been in Crimea and it should be, otherwise Sevastopol will die away";
"Thank God, at last Ukraine and Russia began to make deliberate and mutually profitable decisions";
"This agreement is much more to Ukraine's advantage, since BSF will always protect it if needed";
"We respect Russia more than Ukraine".
Among those who are against BSF prolongation, other thoughts prevail:
"That's clear violation of Ukrainian Constitution";
"Such decisions should be made by all-nation referendum";
"BSF prolongation would escalate further split of Ukraine and cause more internal conflicts";
"That's a Yeltsin-style policy – lease and sell everything, even the city of Russian glory";
"Ukraine lost on the BSF deal. It could get more privileges".
Social research was conducted in Apr 22-25, 2010 in Crimea (separately, in Autonomous Republic of Crimea and in Sevastopol). In total, 1714 respondents were questioned in Crimea, 1017 – in Sevastopol.
