Baltic Fleet (BF) large landing ship Kaliningrad returned to home base Baltiysk after friendly visit to Polish port Swinoustie, reported RIA Novosti citing a representative of BF press service.

"The ship represented Russia in Poland at festivities associated with 65th anniversary of the Great Victory", said the BF representative.

Apart from the crewmembers, on board the landing ship are veterans who served in that Polish port town since 1945 till 1992. In particular, among them is Adm. Vladimir Egorov (ex-governor of Kaliningrad region and honorable BF Commander), Rear Admiral Viktor Getmansky and others.

Naval base Swinoustie had been providing forward basing, repairs and maintenance of Baltic Fleet warships up to early 90's.

"Visit of the Russian warship was aimed at strengthening of Russo-Polish relations and demonstration of Russian naval flag overseas. BF vets participated in the cruise were satisfied with it", added the interviewee.
