Baltic Fleet (BF) will host participants of 1st European Military Medicine Congress to be held in June 8-11 at Svetlogorsk Central Military Sanatorium under the chairmanship of Gen. Maj. of Medical Service Alexander Belevitin, Chief of Main Medical Department.

Focal point of the congress is "Health maintenance of servicemen in Europe". According to BF Information Support Group, about 20 delegations from European countries, CIS states, Russian regions, and NATO Medical Command will take part in the congress. Representatives of UN, Jordan, China, and the US will work as observers. Baltic Fleet's delegation will be headed by Lt. Col. of Medical Service Vitaly Filiushin, acting BF chief medical officer.

It is planned to discuss an array of questions at the international congress. Among them are medical support of troops in military conflicts and peacekeeping operations in Europe and beyond; organization of medical services in day-to-day activities, while technogenic accidents and natural disasters; international cooperation among military medical services etc.

Meeting of chief medical officers of CIS states will be also held. Participants of the congress will meet with Vice Admiral Viktor Chirkov, BF Commander; visit BF naval clinical hospital; make a trip around main sights of Kaliningrad, capital of the "Amber Land".

The congress will be opened on June 8 at 10 am in the concert hall of Svetlogorsk Central Military Sanatorium. On June 11 at Khmelevka range there will be a demonstrative drill on marine brigade's medical company activities in case of emergency.
