Large landing ship Kaliningrad completed long cruise 02.07.2010

Large landing ship Kaliningrad returned to Baltic Fleet (BF) main base Baltiysk. The crew spent over three weeks in the Baltic and the North seas performing tasks of the BALTOPS 2010 exercise jointly with NATO warships. Baltic mariners took part in numerous joint drills on antisubmarine and antiaircraft warfare, cooperative maneuvering, and communication reliability control.

The cruise commander Capt 2 rank I.M. Smirnov and Capt 2 rank M.A. Kushnerev, the ship's commanding officer reported to BF Deputy Commander Vice Admiral V.P. Kravchuk who met Kaliningrad at the pier of naval harbor that the ship is technically serviceable, the crew is disease-free and ready to perform new tasks.

Vice Admiral Viktor Kravchuk said at the meeting ceremony that the ship had excellently performed all exercise tasks.

Traditionally, the ship's commander was given a piglet roast. A number of officers and enlisted were awarded for excellent performance of duty by the order of BF Commander.
