Pacific Fleet (PF) task unit arrives at US naval base Pearl Harbor on June 29 to take part in the world's largest joint naval exercise RIMPAC-2012.

Recall that the PF task unit headed by Capt 1 Rank Sergei Sobokor and comprising destroyer Admiral Panteleyev, replenishment tanker Boris Butoma, and seagoing rescue tug Fotiy Krylov on June 13, 2012 set a course for Hawaii.

It will be debut of Russian ships in the RIMPAC exercise held once in two years. The first exercise was attended by warships of US, Canadian, and Australian navies. Forty five ships from 23 countries will participate in the RIMPAC exercise this year.

Currently, the PF task unit is heading in the central part of the Pacific Ocean having covered over 3,500 miles. Through the cruise, PF mariners have held a number of firing drills and practiced antisubmarine/antiaircraft/antiship defense activities.

Active phase of the international maneuvers will be held since July 11 till Aug 2, 2012.
