New Northern Fleet commander appointed

Vice Admiral Nikolay Maksimov has been appointed new head commander of the Northern Fleet.
Mr Maksimov has served as acting fleet commander since September when former leader Vladimir Vysotskii was appointed head the national navy.
The new commander is born in 1956. He in 1978 completed his navy education and has since worked mainly within the Russian submarine division.
