Mikhail Voitenko, the first who enlightened the hijacking of Arctic Sea, has deserted the Maritime Bulletin editor post
05.09.2009
Editor-in-chief of the online Sovfracht Maritime Bulletin resigns. He informed about that on Sept, 3 at phone call with Dmitry Purim, OJSC Sovfracht Director General.
As Voitenko explains, his resignation is associated with inconsistent statements on the subject of his mysterious "disappearance" and that he is tired "of telling lie".
"On the night of Wednesday during the phone conversation I was warned that governmental institutions had claims against my first publication about Arctic Sea disappearance and it would be better for me to leave Russia in the next few hours, says former editor of the Maritime Bulletin. Since then Voitenko left for Istanbul. On the Maritime Bulletin website appeared a message signed by Voitenko and saying that the author was on the common business trip. However, after that message had appeared Voitenko gave an interview to BBC and declared that he had been forced to sign the message, since Sovfracht needs no noise around Arctic Sea affair.
Former editor of the Maritime Bulletin was the first who informed about disappearance of cargo vessel Arctic Sea and permanently collected and displayed facts and versions concerning disappearance of the ship; particularly, the version of Arctic Sea's secret cargo and intelligence agencies' seizure operation. Such activities affected the interests of important persons, said Voitenko.
